Pros of being lean

There are so many benefits of being lean. One can effortlessly run & walk fast. As the body’s weight is less so joints bear less pressure. Heart doesn’t have to put extra pressure to pump blood for blood to reach all parts of the body.  It also enhances breathing as a lean person’s ribcage expands easily. It also allows the proper functioning of lungs as the lungs are free of fats & lungs are freely able to exchange oxygen. At times some obese people aren’t able to sit properly on some types of car seats or seats of talkies (theatre) or aeroplane seats whereas lean people don’t find it hard. Lean people are more active this makes lean people have an upper hand for getting selected for jobs. Lean people don’t have double chin also.

The heavy rains that are happening in Mumbai now remind me of nice incident that once happened to me as I’m lean. A met a gorgeous girl from Manipur during my orientation in TISS. Although we were pursuing different courses we became friends. In the first semester while pursuing Masters we had a common lecture named foundation course & it used to happen in TISS convention centre which was a big hall. Our class got over & we both were supposed to go to another building for another class. It was drizzling & although I had an umbrella I preferred to not use it & I decided to wait for the rains to stop as some of my batch-mates were doing the same.

My female friend from Manipur saw me waiting & as she had an umbrella she thought of helping me. She asked me to join her as she also had to go to another building. I found her proposal strange as she preferred to ask me rather than asking one of her class mate, who also hailed from North-East & was standing right next to me. Then I realised that she asked me because I was leaner than her class mate & 2 lean people wouldn’t have problems getting under one umbrella. So fellas its better to be lean as some day some gorgeous girl wouldn’t hesitate to help you just like a gorgeous girl helped me.

Similar hairstyles can make 2 people look somewhat similar

Hollywood heartthrob & Irish actor Colin Farrell & Bollywood star Emraan Hashmi had similar hairstyles for their films Miami Vice & Awarapan respectively.

Both somewhat looked similar because of the similarity in their hairstyles although without their long hair they look different.

I liked this hairstyle so joined it.

The more you give the more you’ll receive

I thought of sharing it as I’ve got something more in return many times. Voluntary help or assistance to my peers was my duty being a member of peer support group in TISS.

Since birth I’ve preferred to be an ascetic. Remaining occupied with something for self or for others has always been a pleasure for me as I believe that ‘an empty mind is a devil’s workshop.’ To prevent any negative thought coming in my mind I prefer to occupy my mind with something productive all the time be it my work or other’s work I never hesitate to undertake it. I enjoy working as work enhances maturity & a new experience gives some thrill.

As a peer supporter I got many opportunities to remain occupied with some work or the other. I did some good things, sometimes without any hesitation & sometimes with some reluctance.

In return I got something big many times which in my personal humble opinion I don’t think that I deserve. Many times a class mate & a good friend from Mizoram named Rexx treated me in Dominos eatery & other restaurants in Mumbai. He even gave me an expensive pen & some pen-drives. Many times a female friend from Manipur bought some fruits for me. Many times a female batch mate gave me gifts & treated me with some delicious eatables occasionally. She even transferred big amount to my bank account for working as her courier. A female friend from Nagaland once treated with some Chinese delicacies in a good Chinese restaurant in Bandra, Mumbai. A retired naval officer bought a lot of fruits for me for just visiting his house & helping his in-laws with some train-ticket work. A work colleague once gifted me an expensive perfume. I don’t know if I really deserved all this but I accepted it reluctantly as I thought that it fulfils their plans.

Seva, (Service) was always significant for my Master. He used to say many times that ‘service to man is service to GOD.’ It’s not just me but many like me have received something more in return. Although not everybody plants trees but everybody gets oxygen from the trees that others have planted. Many country men & women have independence because of some selfless freedom fighters played a significant role for liberating their country. They fought for independence for their countrymen & women whom they don’t know & may never know or interact with. Hence in my personal humble opinion one should be selfless & shouldn’t hesitate in serving others as one day he/she will certainly get something more in return maybe not from the person whom he/she has served but surely from someone else.

Similarity in creativity

Hollywood film Mission Impossible 4 & Tamil film Vishwaroopam had some similarities in their film posters.

Mission Impossible 4 had action hero Tom Cruise playing the leading role whereas Vishwaroopam had Tamil Cinema’s film star Kamal Hasan in the lead.

Both were shot in many parts of the world & were big budget films. Mission Impossible 4 a blockbuster hit was released in 2012 whereas Vishwaroopam was released in 2013.

I liked both the film posters so combined it & thought of sharing it.

Nervous, happy and then nostalgic

I met a female friend who was also my school batch mate & now married with one of my batch mates & also has a son. Although we both may have seen each other many times after passing our school but we never spoke. Today for some reasons we had to converse.

I spoke to her normally without exchanging any pleasantries & not in a way one would converse with his old batch-mate as I thought that she won’t recollect that we both were in the same class once upon a time. Her husband who was also my batch mate was present & I was extremely nervous in front of them as her husband & I were & are still good friends.

She said to her husband “Srikant never speaks” I was a bit shocked to find that she still remembers me. I asked "what should I say?"

Many people want attention & want to be noticed & remembered but I’ve always been its opposite. Since birth I’ve always preferred to have a low profile & I prefer to never be remembered. In school also I preferred to never be known maybe because I suffer from anthropophobia :). I find it a strange as even after a keeping a low profile for so many years many of my old batch mates still remember me.

I was always a shy guy in school & didn’t have many friends. I even used to sit on the last bench so that I won’t get noticed. I wasn’t a special one at studies but I was an essential one to many & maybe because of that so many still remember me even after so many years.

We talked about some of our other batch mates & we both were shocked to know about the milestones they’ve reached as in school they were so different.

Although I had a nice time speaking with her I was nervous & equally happy at the same time. I was nervous because after a long time we were conversing & happy also for the same reason. After the moment was over I don’t know why but I felt nostalgic.
