I was
watching a US Army footage with some of my friends. The footage was old &
the audio quality was poor. Many times the word Roger was repeated in the
footage. Some of my friends thought that there was a guy named Roger in the
footage.
Many will
think the same however no Army personnel’s name was Roger in that footage.
“Roger”
is a slang word, usually used in radio transmissions such as military
communications.
“Roger”
in US Army or US defence agencies like FBI or CIA means “received”. Many times
Army or military personnel or FBI or CIA agents say “Roger that” or “Copy that”
it means “received that” or “understood that”
“Roger
over” or “Copy over” means “received & waiting for next message”
Some
other slang words or jargons often used by Military personnel during radio
transmission are “BOLO” means “be on the look out”.
“Out”
means "I have finished speaking, & the conversation is finished; don't
reply".
“Pop
smoke” means “leave”.
“Wilco”
means “will comply”.
“0 dark 30” means “Too early in the morning”.
