Remaining open about various types of treatments

After working in a pharmacy for over a decade—reading lakhs of prescriptions and often accompanying friends to doctor visits—I've gained some insights that many physicians might not want you to hear.

Much of modern medicine is rooted in dogma. It's like a tribal belief system: intensely held convictions that certain treatments are absolute truths, even though most scientific evidence is actually quite grey and nuanced. Yet doctors—especially specialists—often present it as black-and-white fact, implying you're foolish for questioning it.

This has always struck me as odd. When did medicine become so political and dogmatic? Why are those practicing alternative approaches demonized for challenging standardized treatments?

I'm sharing this to empower you: Your doctor isn't God. They're human, susceptible to long-held biases, and the desire for their practices to be "right" after years of experience.

For instance, many physicians fail to adequately inform their patients about the potential side effects of certain medications. Moreover, they often do not fully recognize conditions such as anxiety, back pain, high cholesterol, chronic stress, constipation, fatty liver, hypertension, neck and shoulder pain, PCOS, postural issues, and Type 2 diabetes as primarily lifestyle-related disorders—many of which are largely preventable and reversible through improvements in diet, exercise, and daily habits, rather than relying solely on pharmaceutical pills.

This isn't limited to one group; most of the people in the medical community often treat complex biology as if it's straightforward and factual, when it's not.

Stay informed, learn how your body works, question the common narrative, and use your critical thinking. Physicians are humans too—just like us—and we all fall into these patterns sometimes.

Not being a friend

It’s not unusual for people to start considering other’s as their brother or sisters or close friend. It’s not bad when done without any ulterior motive however many do it to get their work done or to feel secured or to depend or rely on others perhaps as our society has become so fast paced.

My parents wanted to behave like a friend to me however I never liked their idea & wanted them to behave like my parents. I felt that parents must behave like parents & as it often created a void in me. In my opinion when parents behave like friends at times children take them for granted & parents also overlook their responsibilities of being the most caring & protective person.

I’ve worked as a Druggist, translator, Psychologist, Accountant & these professions made me interact with many & thus many were quick to make me a part of their family or a brother or close friend. However I never liked this practise as when I’ve maintained distance it has made me obliged to not take anybody for granted or ask for help or disturb or distract others for my benefits.

I’ve practised lay Psychoanalysis & in it I had learnt to have a mother infant relationship with clients & even before practising it or learning Psychoanalysis I used to have a feeling to treat others like GOD. This transition in me began when my parents started behaving like my friends & to make them behave like my parents I used to give them utmost respect & treat like GOD to me. I try my best to come across others as good person or the best person they’ve met in terms of humbleness, kindness, politeness, respectfulness & this I was able to do as I never considered them my brother or sister or a friend. I’m able to give them more respect as I consider them as meeting them for the first time. When we make others our relatives or close friends then many times we get judgemental about them. I believe that by not befriending others one can give others more respect & maintain relationships healthier as one won’t judge others or think wrong or immoral about them & won’t also have unrealistic expectations from them.

Waiting for tonight – Jennifer Lopez

16 years ago Jennifer Lopez sung & shot the video song “Waiting for tonight” – The song got released in November 1999. The song was specially designed for Y2K or year 2000 as believed to be a new beginning as on calendar we all were supposed to stop using 19…

The song still continues to be a big hit in discos & gets played in many countries on the night of 31st December.

I wonder Jennifer Lopez had sung “when I would be there in your arms” instead of “when you would be here in my arms” being a woman. :)

Even I’ve loved this song especially the sound of trumpet played in the middle & in the end are indeed mesmerising.

Gemstones

Many times Astrologers, Palmists, Psychic healers, Tarot Card readers, etc. suggest their clients to wear one or many gemstones. Gemstone industry is a big market & many spend a lot of money to purchase & wear it. Many times many even get cheated by purchasing artificial stones instead of real gemstones.

Many believe that gemstones have the power to change a person’s life. Many believe & state that the negative rays of a particular planet gets reflected by a gemstone or a gemstone attracts positive rays of a planet or converts negative rays of a planet into positive rays.

There are many people that practise Astrology, Palmistry, etc. genuinely & never ask their clients to wear any particular gemstone however many ask. Nowadays people trust or prefer to visit such Astrologers, Palmists or Psychic healers that suggest to wear some gemstones.

I’ve practised Astrology & Palmistry for around 8 years & with my experience I can state that gemstones don’t have any power to attract or reflect rays of a particular planet or convert bad rays of a particular planet into good rays.

However many people around the globe have found it beneficial & their life got changed after wearing it. It can be just due to coincidence. Psychologically when a person wears a gemstone she/he gets a positive feeling & feels confidence & due to the confidence she/he is able to take good decisions. You must’ve noticed that when one isn’t confident she/he takes many wrong decisions. Thus wearing it can motivate. Also when a person spends money to purchase it (as such gemstones are expensive) she/he constantly thinks about it & also gets a feeling of something positive must happen & thus she/he tries hard to achieve something or accomplish something. It’s just like a placebo effect of a drug.

Also different colours affect us differently, for example restaurants prefer to write their name in Red as seeing red can make a person feel hungry. Ruby red in colour when a person wears it, it can make a person have better digestion or make her/him eat more. Many wear white as it’s connected to simplicity or peace. Thus pearl white in colour when worn can bring about peace of mind or decrease anxiety or excitability. Some gemstones can also have negative effects like Red coral red in colour & red is connected to passion & aggressiveness can make a person very intensely passionate when not required or aggressive when even when situations can be handled or sorted out easily or politely. Thus various gemstones affect a person’s mind or bring different thoughts in a person’s mind differently due to their different colour.

However apart from placebo effect gemstones don’t have any miraculous powers to change a person’s destiny. I’ve read many Hindu sacred texts (Puranas, Gita, Shrimad Bhagvatam, Vedas, etc) nowhere I found appreciation of gemstone or it’s uses. No Purana has information about the benefits of wearing any gemstone or gemstone helping people to overcome adversaries or miseries or ward off future setbacks or trouble. In Ramayana Lord Rama wasn’t suggested to wear any particular gemstone by sage Agastya to slay Ravana & win Goddess Sita. Lord Krishna never suggested Pandavas to wear any particular gemstone when they were going through a tough time or to win the battle against the Kauravas. Nowhere it’s mentioned that Goddess Kathyayani wore any particular gemstone to kill Mahisasura.

Thus in my personal humble opinion one mustn’t spend her/his hard earned money to purchase such gemstones. She/he must boost her/his mind by following a good lifestyle by doing Yoga, Pranayama, exercises daily, eat healthy food & stay away from negative thoughts or elements. One must believe in karma & hard work & put forth all her/his efforts to achieve something with hard & smart work rather than getting carried away by the thought of gemstones to do miracles.

Advantages & disadvantages of rough tiles on bathroom floor

Bathroom is generally slippery thus to prevent slipping it’s indeed a good idea to use rough tiles instead of smooth ones however a disadvantage is that water doesn’t flow through it smoothly & many times it looks annoying as dirt too remains accumulated & have to use a lot of water to get rid of the dirt.

Which hand of lover should one hold?

Our brain has many hemispheres & there are many ways to study the different hemispheres. One way of studying the different hemisphere is by dividing it into 2 i.e. left & right.

Majority of the world population are right handed. For the right handed people the right hemisphere of the brain deals with creativity, emotions, imagination, intuition, memory, non-verbal skills, etc. The left hemisphere of the brain deals with abstract thoughts, calculations, logic, reading, writing, etc.

The left hemisphere controls the right side of the body i.e. right hand, right legs. The right hemisphere controls the left side of the body i.e. left hand, left leg.

As I had mentioned above majority of the world population are right handed a lover’s left hand should be held. It will stimulate the right hemisphere of the brain that deals with creativity, emotions, memory, etc. & these aspects are connected to love.

If lover is left handed then her/his right hand should be held.

Triple H to achieve goals

With Triple H I mean that 3 tendencies beginning with the letter H can help to achieve goals or resolutions. The 3 H are Happiness, Hard-work & Humour. I’ve written the 3 H in alphabetical order for some the order can be different.

Many think that by achieving goals or resolutions or by becoming successful or by reaching any target or finding love or a great job or fame 1 will be happy. However it works the other way around. Happiness is the prerequisite to achieve goals or resolutions or to reach any target or to find love or a great job or fame.

When 1 is happy she/he gets more positive thoughts & mind is positive. A positive mind can help achieve goals or resolutions. People get attracted to happy people thus happy people are able to find love, get a job & even get popularity or fame. You may have noticed that 1 can enjoy food when she/he is happy. 1 makes many promises when she/he is happy. Happiness enhances health. A happy mind has more immunity strength or better functioning of white blood cells than an unhappy mind. Thus happiness boosts health. If health is good then 1 can work well to achieve her/his goals, resolutions, do well at job, relationship & can even become popular or get fame.

Globalisation, Increase in population & decrease of natural resources has made the world more competitive than ever. In my opinion currently we have cutthroat competition in all fields. I haven’t met a single person that has been successful without hard-work. Many get a great job however they aren’t able to remain at that job as they aren’t able to work hard. Hard work is not only required at job but also in all walks of life. A person that tries hard in her/his relationship will be able to sustain it. Similarly a hard working person will be able to keep his fame. When 1 works hard she/he remains focussed on her/his work & that focus keeps negative thoughts or daydreams at bay. 2 people making same resolution – 1 hard working & other hardly working. In my opinion the hard working person is more likely to conquer her/his resolution than a hardly working person.

Humour is a great mechanism to keep negative thoughts at bay. Humorous people are more likely to forget failures or past struggles & forgive others. They are able to create jokes on self or laugh at their own mistakes & the negative energy just disappears. Many people waste much of their life’s time & energy by dwelling in their past life. I don’t mean to state that dwelling into past is bad however persistently thinking about it doesn’t let 1 move ahead or progress. A humorous mind is also more creative than others. Due to their creative nature they get more ideas than normal to achieve their goals or resolutions or targets. Their ability to laugh on self helps them forget pain or humiliation. When negative incidents get masked a person is able to focus on present & thus can hard-work move ahead. Humorous people are also more likely to attract others & thus can find love, popularity or fame.

Some songs with guitar strums I’m fond of

Below are some songs that I’ve been fond of due to the great guitar strums used in them.

1. Song ‘Subah Subah’ from Hindi movie I see you released in 2006. The music was composed by Vishal Dadlani & Shekhar Ravjiani. The song ‘Subah Subah’ begins with a guitar strum & features Bollywood Badshah or Mr. Khan playing a guitar on the streets of perhaps London. The song was sung by Zubeen Garg. The mood type of the song is happy. The best lines I liked were by English man & in the guitar strum when he sings.

2. Guitar sound from the song ‘10 million slaves’ in the movie English movie Public Enemies released in 2009. The song was composed by Otis Taylor & it featured in the album Respect the dead. The song starts with a great guitar strum & this strum was used in the movie. The best I felt when the guitar strums from this song begins & features British actor Christian Bale.

3. Song ‘Jao Na’ from the Hindi movie What’s your Rashee released in 2009. The music was composed by Sohail Sen & the song too was sung by him. The strums of guitar can give some boost to any lazy person.

Everyone can do some charity

Many believe that only the wealthy or those well settled in life can do or should do charity. In my opinion charity isn’t just connected to donating cash. Everyone can do some charity as charity need not be connected to money always. As a human one can donate many valuables that she/he possesses. For example 1 can donate food, clothes, old books, old furniture, etc. If 1 is already is into donating his household items or if there’s anything that can be donated then 1 can give some of her/his time to someone or many. There are many that we encounter daily upset or sad or depressed. At times they just want someone to listen to them. Thus 1 can listen to them politely without being judgemental. It helps the sad or depressed person vent her/his frustration & after that she/he may feel a bit calm. In my personal humble opinion giving time is also a form of charity. Many have good knowledge & are highly educated. Thus by teaching at places for free or by sharing their ideas or knowledge they can help someone grow in life is also a form of charity in my personal humble opinion. It can also inspire others people to do the same as a even a small act of generosity can create ripples of good work.

Beauty, Brain & Blessing

I wrote beauty 1st not because I’m more found of beauty more than brain. I just wrote it as beauty comes before blessing as per alphabetical order.

When I was in India I had got an opportunity to work for some international companies that had more than 5000 employees working in that building. I even studied in some reputed universities & big Institutions that had many students.

At times while sitting with office colleagues during break time or before or after work hours some beautiful women employees of the same company used to pass by. Some office colleagues had a habit of rating their beauty on a 10 point scale & then eventually stating that she doesn’t have brains & vice versa however they never any woman’s brain. (Perhaps they never wanted a woman with brains. J)

While studying in some reputed universities & institutes too while sitting with some university colleagues, some male students had a habit of appreciating some female student’s brains & eventually stating that she lacks beauty & vice versa.

I’ve studied Astrology, Palmistry, Pharmacy, Psychology & many more subjects, practiced Psychoanalysis, Conversation Analysis. The different subjects have made me study many different types of books & working as a Lay Psychoanalyst & Conversation analyst & an assistant to a steadicam operator I got to socialise with many people. Thus I consider myself to be in a position to state that beauty & brains both are only due to blessing.

As a student many times I’ve been a good friend of those that did well to get good marks & with geek type students. I used to ask them the number of hours they used to study & I used to make sure to study for more number of hours than them daily. However I always remained an above average student. I have always been good at copying the style of others. I’ve read many stories of successful students & how they studied & followed their lifestyle including eating & sleeping habits however I was never able to achieve the same number of grades. I’m not the only person in the world that has tried hard & many have also tried immensely worked harder than me however may not have achieved to be the best due to various reasons known to them.

Ponder this - till now all the operating systems & social networking websites that majority of the world population has used have only been from United States of America. Europe is more developed than America. Many European companies have invested a lot of money brought in a lot of people with best brains from all parts of Europe & India however haven’t been able to build an operating system or create a social networking website that many have used. Aren’t Europeans hard working or don’t they have great brains to beat United States of America?

There are so many people that have excellent brains & work so hard for their CA exams, IAS exams, Medical exams, Pharma exams, GMAT, SAT, TOEFL, etc. however not every person with good brains is able to get success. We only start believing in fate or destiny when we experience failures. Till the time people keep getting success they don’t realise that a higher power is propelling them. It’s the higher power that helps their brain to write the right information during exams. It’s the higher power that helps their brain invent or innovate & that happens to them as they are blessed.

Just like brains beauty is connected to blessing. Perhaps many have read this many times that sleeping late at night is bad for skin & hair. The companies in which I worked had work shifts. I encountered many women that had done night shift for around a decade however their skin & hair were flawless. I even encountered many women that used to drink every weekend & on their shift used to smoke daily around a packet of cigarettes with their friends. Not many would disagree to the fact that passive smoking is more harmful than smoking. Many women enjoyed smoking in groups. Thus in a way they were intoxicating their lungs more than what they would have done by smoking alone. However their bad habits didn’t have much effect on their face or hair.

Some people connect genes to beauty. I’ve worked as a counsellor & I’m also an Astropalmist thus many women & families have come to me for consultation. During my practice I met many families - parents were lean & fair however their son or daughter were overweight & dark toned despite of not overeating. Many children’s skin tone was different than their parents. Some parents had suffered hair fall however their children had excellent hair & vice versa. Some parents weren’t tall however their children had a very good height without any supplements or exercise & they consumed the same food that their parents ate. Many children have flat nose or wide nose however their parents were born with normal nose.

The cosmetic industry isn’t infamous & there are wide range of cosmetic products that so many women try to enhance their beauty however many hardly get benefits from it. I can state this as I had worked as a Pharmacist in a Medical store & many women complained to me about their money getting wasted due to the investing so much on cosmetic products which never did any good to them.

The number of people I’ve encountered in my life & after around a decade of Astrological practice (it’s not my profession) & after reading so many books on Astrology & Palmistry I can without doubt state that beauty & brains both are due to blessings.

Wealth inequality

You may have heard this quote “rich get richer & poor get poorer” many times. This quote was also used as a dialogue in a blockbuster Indian super hit movie Sivaji (2007) that starred superstar Rajinikanth & was directed by a great Tamil director Shankar. The movie shed light on wealth inequality amongst rich & poor. It also informed about the deposition of black money in some banks located in Europe by some wealthy people & nation can benefit if their black money is used properly for proper development of the country (by building good roads, increasing the number of hospitals & educational institutions) poor won’t suffer.

German News channel DW aired a show named “Made in Germany” dated 8th October 8:30 am & 3:00 pm (Indian Standard Time). One of the show’s topics was wealth inequality amongst the world. Host Monika Jones shed light on a research done by “Credit Suisse Global Wealth Databook 2012”, as per their research 86% of the world’s capital is with only 10% of the super wealthy people. The show shared that there's a very huge economic disparity between the mega rich & the rest of the world. In many developing nations it’s impossible to accumulate modest wealth just through work or service, thus it’s a big threat to the stability to our society as rich get richer & poor get poorer. The show also featured economist Thomas Piketty’s interview & his views about his famous book "Capital in the Twenty-First Century".

This is indeed a very big economic disparity. This accumulation of wealth by the super wealthy people has very badly affected the middle class & poor population. This economic disparity led Americans to start an Occupy Movement. The Occupy Movement protests against social & economic inequality. One of the slogans of the Occupy Movement is “We are the 99%”. This movement drew attention between the growing inequality between the rich & poor. The phrase refers directly to the concentration of capital & wealth among the top earning 1% (tiny minority) & due to which the 99% (major majority) are struggling & suffering.

The situation of majority of the world population living in developed & developing country is the same. For majority of the world population it’s impossible to have proper living standard, thus they’ve to compromise on many living aspects like they unwillingly live in a small house or live at places that aren’t properly developed, they reluctantly educate their children to substandard schools, compromise at eating (by not purchasing nutritious food), etc. The majority of service class people that don’t earn very high income find it very difficult to live with one income thus struggle throughout their life. In many countries it’s extremely difficult for majority of middle class people to purchase property (house) with their service income & raise their children. This is because the wealthy people purchase more than one house & give the rest of their houses on rent to make money. In my opinion some inequality could be reduced if the super wealthy people are made to pay high amount than the actual amount of the property. This would resist them to purchase more than one property, thus the availability of house would increase & property price would fall down.

Reflection: -

Humans should understand that sharing & caring for others can give more joy than accumulating. The wealth that mega rich possess is impossible to be consumed by them & their generation however they hesitate to share it as for many people accumulating wealth gives them some sense of security & power.
