Abraham Lincoln’s humility

Former US President Abraham Lincoln faced tremendous setbacks & struggled a lot before becoming President of USA. His fiancée died, twice failed in business, had a nervous breakdown, lost 8 times in elections but became the Greatest President Ever.

On his first day as President while giving his inaugural speech a wealthy aristocrat interrupted him. He said, “Mr. Lincoln, you shouldn’t forget that your father made shoes for my family." The aristocrat’s acerbic comment made some senates present laugh.

President Lincoln’s past impediments & struggle had made him a man of steel to tolerate such vitriolic comment. President Lincoln looked at that man & thanked him for reminding him of his humble origins. He said to him "Sir I know that my father made shoes for your family & many others present here because the way he made shoes nobody else could have made." He added that his father was a creator & he not just made shoes but poured his whole soul in it. He then questioned the aristocrat whether he had any complaint regarding those shoes. He then said “I know how to make shoes myself. If you have any complaint I can make another pair of shoes. But as far as I know, nobody has ever complained about my father's shoes. He was a great creator & genius with his work, & I am proud of my father".

Family court's unforgettable incident

Field work in Family court Bandra is a part of my MA Counselling course in TISS. Today I met a celeb couple who wanted to get separated mutually. I cannot reveal their names for confidentiality reasons. Their marriage relationship was intimate & everything was fine initially. Both earned well. Unfortunately money always doesn’t do good. Husband got addicted to alcohol after some years of their marriage & it affected their relationship.

His wife with her tremendous endurance worked extremely hard to make her husband sober & eventually got success. I’m so very glad to have met such a strong woman who tolerated so much & could have left her husband to start a new life.

Now as her husband is sober she wants to quit their relationship. Husband reluctantly agreed to his wife’s decision as he understands the mistakes that he committed & is willing to do anything for her. He looked very much in love with her & had tears in his eyes while sharing his past. He feels blessed as his wife remained patient, hopeful, tolerated a lot of violence & brought him to the right track. He believes that he would have been nowhere if his wife wouldn’t have been with him & supported him. He prefers to do whatever his wife wants him to do now & would love to bring her back to his life after their separation.

I respect their decision & the noble work that she did of bringing her husband to the right track. Her husband has a great sense of humour. Throughout the counselling session I kept laughing on the jokes he cracked with tears in his eyes. I wondered why would a woman leave such a humorous man but unfortunately life doesn’t progress with just humour.

The couple were so down to earth & spoke with me so nicely. While moving out of the room the man shook hands with me & told that as you’ve heard my story so never take alcohol as you may unknowingly hurt the most important person in your life & it may even take away the most important person from your life. His wife was also very sweet & a patient woman. She said to me bye & wished GOD’s blessings to me.

From this I incident understand that the woman had tremendous endurance, patience & strength to tolerate. Her loved was unsullied & unconditional.  She did whatever she thought was right.

Wherever their life takes them may they always have immeasurable happiness & peace.

Mars is considered combust while within 17 degrees.

Jupiter is considered combust while within 11 degrees.

Saturn is considered combust while within 15 degrees.

N.B.

As Mars, Jupiter & Saturn are outer planets i.e. their orbit is outside Earth’s orbit hence they can never be retrograde & combust at the same time. They only become retrograde when they’re opposite Sun.

As Mercury & Venus are inner planets they can become combust & retrograde simultaneously.
