Problem with Phone’s battery

Sometimes phone’s battery drains very soon.  One might feel that there is something wrong with the phone’s battery & would like to replace it. Even I had got the same feeling & wanted to replace my phone’s battery but before I was about to replace it I charged my phone by connecting it to my Laptop. The battery worked fine. I then connected my phone with another charger & the battery worked fine again. I realised that there is something wrong with my phone’s charger.

Also once my phone's battery was getting discharged soon & I felt that my phone's battery's life is over but before replacing it I opened my phone & wiped the battery & its connection point to the phone & afterwards my phone's battery started working fine. I realised that due to moisture my phone's battery wasn't able to perform at its optimum level thus one should open their phone & clean the battery's terminal & phone's connection point often for its optimum performance.

If you're sure that your phone's battery's life is over & it needs to be replaced then just remove it & check if it’s inflated. If the phone’s battery is inflated then there is surely some problem with the phone’s battery. If the phone’s battery doesn’t look inflated then keep it on floor & spin it. If it spins for some seconds & then stops spinning there is a possibility of something being wrong with the battery. If it doesn't spin or for a very few seconds & then stops then the battery maybe normal.

Sometimes due to some malefic software installed in phone’s the phone's processor keeps running & this consumes more energy & the battery drains soon hence its important to uninstall any malefic software that causes problems.

Phones I've used

Unlike others I don’t like changing phones. I prefer to use a phone till the time it stops functioning. I thought of typing about all the phones that I’ve used till now as every phone I’ve used till now has been very special for me.

The first phone I used was a Motorola d628. It was a big phone with 2 line display. It had greenish light & colour of display letter was black. It had a provision of inserting the entire SIM inside it. Earlier size of SIM used to be like size of a credit card.

The second phone I used was a Nokia 3650. It was a nice phone during its time. Camera phones that had multimedia facility were very rare. Its display size was around 2.1 inches. It had a VGA camera with video recording facility. Internet facility was available. As it was a big phone the keys weren’t very close to each other. The software was Symbian series 6. Battery was fine. Processor speed was around 100 MHz. I liked the phone as it had a big display as per that time, I was able to save many pictures, audios, videos & SAR level was less.

As I was found of playing games I changed my phone to Nokia n gage QD. It didn’t have a camera but played audios, videos. Its display size was around 2.1 inches. Software was Symbian 6 series. I remember playing many games using it. Battery was fine around 1000 mAh & processor speed was around 100 MHz.

Radio revolution had started in Mumbai so I thought of upgrading to a phone that had radio in it. I changed to Nokia 3230. It was the first phone that had radio & camera in it. Camera was fine as per that time around 1.23 megapixels. Display size was around 2.1 inches. It played & recorded videos. Battery was excellent around 750 mAh. Processor speed was around 123 MHz. It even had a PTT facility which I never used. It was able to run a 2GB card smoothly.

My friend had bought a Windows phone so I thought of owning one & I bought a HTC t3232 also known as HTC Touch 3G. It was the first Windows phone I used that had 3G & WLan facility. The Windows version was 6.1. As it was a 3G phone & MTNL was the only 3G service provider & I was the only person amongst my friends to use MTNL network I remember astonishing my friends with the internet speed the phone had around 7.2 Mbps. Phone showed weather updates. Its display size was 2.8 inches. RAM was powerful with 192 MB & ROM was 256 MB. Its processor speed was around 528 MHz. It had a camera of 3.15 Megapixels. It had a powerful battery or around 1100 mAH to run such powerful processor. The best thing I liked about this phone was I was able to use internet on my PC with this phone. The phone was able to run Word, Excel, PDF files smoothly. The phone even had a facility of saving message delivery & read report which I saw for the first time in any phone I used. I also remember using free internet at many WLan zones.

Nokia launched a new series called N series. I liked a phone N95 very much but as it was expensive I thought of settling for N80 its predecessor. N80 was a nice phone. It had around 40 MB of internal storage memory. The best thing I liked about it was it had 2 cameras. The front was a VGA & other was 3.15 megapixels. The camera was powerful as per that time. It had a LED flash. I had made my first video call with this phone. Its processor speed was around 220 MHz. Operating system was Symbian 6 series. The phone had all the facility WLan, 3G, radio, good speaker, camera etc. It easily ran a 2GB memory card. Processing was smooth & internet speed was fine. Display size was around 2.1 inches.

As my Nokia N80’s display stopped working due to water getting into it I thought of using a simple Windows phone that has WLan facility. I thought of owing a Windows phone as it allows to read documents & WLan was important as TISS has WLan facility.  As I used to travel daily for around 2.5 hrs from home to TISS I thought that while travelling I can read my college documents, check e-mails & reply to them. I then used HTC P3452 phone. The windows version was 6. I liked the phone as it ran a 32 GB memory card smoothly, opened big word, excel, powerpoint & PDF files smoothly. It was a 2G phone but internet speed was fine. Display size was 2.8 inches. Processor speed was around 200 MHz. Battery was around 1100 mAh. It had a 128 MB RAM & 256 MB ROM. I remember opening the phone to clean it & by mistake I fiddled with its speaker badly I thought that the speaker won’t ever work but it worked fine. The phone fell so many times but still nothing happened to it. Some drawbacks the phone had was its high SAR level and unable to send multiple files by Bluetooth.

Herbs that enhances memory

Although there are many herbs that enhances or boosts memory but Ashwagandha, Brahmi & Sankhpushpi are 3 herbs that are easily available.

Ashwagandha is available in powder form. It's known as Ashwagandha as it smells like a horse. It can be administered by mixing it with milk, honey or ghee. It strengthens the nerves.

Brahmi is available in tablet & liquid form. Tablets can be taken with water & syrup can be taken directly without mixing it with anything. It's sherbet is also available which can be taken by mixing it with water. It improves memory.

Sankhpushpi is available in syrup which can be taken morning, evening & night. It also improves memory.

First ice-cream treat

As I child I was found of milk & milk products. I cannot forget the first ice-cream which I got as a treat from someone other than my parents.

This incident happened when I was around 5 years old. My friend’s mother treated me with a chocolate cone-ice cream. She did that as her son was very fond of playing & I used to play with him.

Although I hardly eat ice-creams now because milk adulteration is on a rise but whenever I’m compelled to have an ice-cream by my friends it reminds me of the chocolate cone-ice cream that I had with my friend on a sunny day from his mother as a treat.

Encounter with a crazy Sanjay Dutt's fan

This incident happened yesterday. I had gone to ISKCON temple at Grant-Road. Unfortunately the temple was closed for some construction work.

I met a woman who looked dejected & upset as she had to return home without getting Lord Krishna’s darshan. She told me that she specially came to the temple to pray for Sanjay Dutt who had got a verdict of 5 years of imprisonment.

As I found her upset & dejected I took her to Babulnaath temple located nearby ISKCON temple. She prayed there for Sanjay Dutt. Then I took her to a shop & requested her to eat a samosa.

After eating a Samosa she told me that Mumbai’s Mayor is her friend & she has some documents signed by Mayor with which she can save Sanjay Dutt from getting punished. She wanted to give those documents to Sanjay Dutt.

She took me to her flat in Walkeshwar. She ate a samosa again, applied make-up, took the documents that she had got from Mayor (I don’t know the authenticity of the documents) & asked me to accompany her to Sanjay Dutt’s house as she didn’t know where Sanjay Dutt lives.

I didn’t hesitate to accompany her. She took her car to reach Sanjay Dutt’s house. While driving she told that she’s Sanjay Dutt’s fan as Sanjay Dutt has saved her life many times, thus she wants to save Sanjay Dutt’s life.

She drove her car at a tremendous speed just like Sanjay Dutt drives in his movies.

I wasn’t scared of any accident happening. She thought that I’ll request her to slow her car’s speed but I didn’t request. She played Sanjay Dutt’s songs at a high volume. I remained calm & unruffled.

I guided her to reach Sanjay Dutt’s building. Unfortunately the guards didn’t allow her to meet Sanjay Dutt.

She got angry as she spent a lot on fuel & her journey was in vain as it wasted her time & money.

Lunch at Jim-Me’s Kitchen

You admire someone whom you don’t know so well & that someone takes you out for lunch. Well that happens only with some lucky people. I met a lady in the first week of my schedule in TISS & started admiring her. Although she hails from Manipur even in a new state in a new environment she always looked very blissful, calm, cool, patient, relaxed, serene, tranquil whenever I saw her. Maybe because of that I admired her so much. Even in the harsh rains of Mumbai she always looked undisturbed & unruffled.

We exchanged pleasantries a few times in the first month of my schedule & then hardly met & spoke for more than a year. I had somewhat forgotten her & maybe she forgot me as well as the hectic courses in TISS hardly allows to socialise with students studying other course. Also as I wasn’t staying in hostel we hardly got to meet.

Then on 27th September we met. I got her email address but I hardly communicated. Then I after a gap of around 6 months we met on 5th March in DH at around 17:30 hrs. I was so lucky as I was leaving DH & she just entered. If I would have left just 15 seconds earlier then we wouldn't have met that day. We exchanged pleasantries & I got her phone number. The next day I accompanied her to some slums in Andheri as she had to visit some children living in slums to check how much financial aid is helping them to study. It was a great learning & nice experience for me as I got to know so much about the plight of children & people living in those areas. I kept thinking wish she were my partner during the M-Ward survey which I did in my second semester in TISS. After accomplishing our task she wanted to take me out for food but I rejected her proposal as I had to meet a counsellor in Family court in Bandra & attend my farewell which I didn’t attend as I had to write 9 field work reports. Throughout my travel with her she was extremely serene & unperturbed by the hot weather. She looked calm, patient & did her required task very smoothly. Maybe her passion towards her work made her ignore the difficulties we experienced while searching the houses.

I again went out with her to some slums in Mumbai on 9th March. After a hectic travel without accomplishing the required task due to address issues we both were tired. Although she is an energetic person but as she had been travelling the entire week she looked tired. She then decided to end her work & take me out for lunch. I said “my travel with you wasn’t something laborious hence lunch isn’t necessary." I promised her that we'll go some other time but she was adamant & somehow persuaded me. I wasn’t able to deny her proposal as I had denied it last time.

From Goregaon's Arey Milk Colony we went to Bandra to a restaurant named Jim-Me’s kitchen. My female friend who is a foodie asked me what she should order. I being a non-foodie person, who follows Huna wasn’t able to decide. She being a non-vegetarian thought of ordering some non-vegetarian delicacies. Eventually she came to know that I’m a vegetarian. Although to keep her happy I could have eaten a bit of non-vegetarian food something R. Madhavan does in RHTDM to impress Diya Mirza but I didn’t do that.

My generous female friend ordered many vegetarian dishes which wasn’t possible for both of us to finish. The food was delicious. In the end she paid the entire big bill which I wanted to pay.

I had a wonderful time that day & I shall never be able to forget that day as she treated me so nicely, extravagantly & generously. That day will always remain so significant as something like this happened for the first time in my life & one hardly gets an opportunity to have food with someone he/she likes or admires but I was a bit disheartened in the end as my female friend paid the entire bill.
