My best TISS batch mate Rexx

I met Rexx on 11th March 2011 it for my Interview & Group Discussion for Masters in Counselling course in TISS.  There were many aspirants I don’t remember the exact number but maybe more than 20. Many were from North East India. Although Rexx hails from North East India he interacted more with me than his North Eastern counterparts.

We had a group discussion before the Interview. I found it extremely strange as in the group discussion Rexx’s & my view points matched a lot.

After the group discussion we had our respective interviews. Rexx’s interview number was after mine. I gave my interview & preferred to wait patiently till his interview got over rather than returning home. After his interview we discussed our experience. We both were somewhat exhausted & nervous as we both hadn’t done well in our respective interviews & didn’t have any hopes of studying in TISS. Luckily we exchanged our phone numbers before leaving TISS campus.

The results came out & luckily we both got the required marks to study Masters in Counselling in TISS. I asked him to do the admission formalities. He wasn’t that keen to join as he was scared of not clearing his Bachelors Degree. I gave him hopes & pushed him to join. Eventually he joined & we both took admission together on the same day.

Most of my class mates were females & as Rexx & I knew each other prior to joining TISS we preferred to be sit together most of the time rather than spending time with others. Unluckily we both were in different FC class. Although most of our thoughts matched tremendously he preferred to do his specialisation on working with children’s issues & problems & I chose to do my specialisation on working with adult’s issues & problems so our classes got separated but whenever we met we had a great time.

I’ll always remember the treats that he gave me in Dominos & other restaurants for no reasons. I’ll also remember the electronic items he gave me for free.

Although we belong to different religion & states our friendship bond was so strong. We had similar thoughts & views throughout our 2 years time. One of the common thing I found strange was that we both didn’t have any liking for a particular type of food.

Although we had many similarities there were some differences as well like Rexx being very good at drawing & playing computer & playstation games whereas I being poor at drawing & not at all found of computer & playstation games.

He leaves Mumbai today to go to Manipur. I wish he gets whatever is right for him & I also wish that wherever his life takes him he gets immeasurable happiness, fame, glory, joy, peace, prosperity, success, good health & all the good luck possible to have by any1, & countless reasons to smile.

Avoiding arguments

This incident happened when I was in studying in standard 9th. I was returning home from school after giving an exam. Time was around 11:30 am. The weather was pleasant but I was exhausted after writing my exam. My school was in Santacruz West & I lived in Santacruz East so I used to cross a Western Railway bridge. That day on the bridge I saw an ex student of St. Teresa's convent girls high school scolding an ex student of Sacred Hearts Boys High school. (There often used to be ego issues between the girls of St. Teresa's convent girls high school & Sacred Hearts Boys High school) As I was wearing my school uniform she realised that this boy is also from Sacred Hearts Boys High school. She yelled looking at me “look another boy from Sacred Hearts” & used some words......... that I don’t feel like mentioning here. I preferred to remain serene & silent. Although she kept staring at me & even expected my contribution......... to her words but I preferred to remain silent. I bent my head down & moved on.

Reflections: -

I don’t know if that girl was right or wrong. I don’t have any grudges against her & don’t even remember her face but I think that ignoring her words was right. Maybe I was able to ignore her words as I was exhausted after my exam. Well whatever it was I never got angry & didn't say anything bad to her & even felt bad about her even for a moment. For a lot of people revenge is the best medicine. Many won’t hesitate to respond when they are told something they don’t deserve to hear but many times it can be avoided. One should be what she/he is & not copy like monkeys. We all may know the story of a cap seller & a monkey where a cap seller’s all caps are taken away by & worn by monkeys when he’s at sleep & when he wakes up......... he throws his cap that he has worn & seeing that all the monkeys throw the cap that they took away & wore it. Thus 1 should know his/her strength & who he/she is rather than copying others. When we see others scolding or yelling at us we also begin to do the same but many times it can be avoided as when a person is angry he/she doesn’t have proper control on her/his senses & may yell anything. If we’ll also do the same then there won’t be any difference between them & us. It'll affect the relationship & in severe case we may lose that person hence such petty arguments should be avoided & ignored. Also how others treat us is their karma & how we reach to it or respond to it is ours. We cannot always control others but we can control ourselves.

This incident also reminds me of Sir Winston Churchill's quote “You’ll never reach your destination if you stop & throw stones at every dog that barks.”

737, 747, 757

I’ve been travelling from Santacruz to Govandi & from Govandi to Santacruz by train since around 2 years being a student of TISS which is located in Deonar in Govandi.

While returning home to Santacruz I took a train from Govandi the train’s timing was 7:37 pm. I got down at Kurla station & then took a train for Dadar & the train’s timing was 7:47 pm. After getting down at Dadar I took a train for Santacruz & the train’s timing was 7:57 pm.

I found it amusing as nothing like this had happened in around 2 years of my journey & on my last official day something like this happened. I’ll remember this day as it was my last official day as a student of TISS, something like this had never happened in the last 2 years & 737, 747 & 757 are the famous airliners of Boeing.
