Child/children’s unhealthy eating habits affecting parent’s health

Children are found of eating fried, oily, salty, spicy, foods as they find it delicious. Most of the children who are physically active, play can digest such foods easily. Mostly children even have high metabolic rate compared to their parents. Children even like to eat out in restaurants; I’ve seen mostly children in their teens prefer to eat foods like Burger, Frankie, French fries, different types of chips, Pasta, Pizza, Chinese foods, Vada-Pav non-vegetarian foods, etc. Such foods can have high salt content, & high in calories. Parents don’t like to dishearten their child/children hence they take their child/children to eat out & they also eat the same. This habit generally goes on especially when child/children are in their teens. After that age they don’t prefer parent’s company & follow the same eating habits with their friends. Their parents who reach around 45 to 50 years of age while their child/children grows also may have consumed a lot of junk, oily food or foods high in salt. This lifestyle affects parent’s body as they consume unhealthy food which their child/children were found of. After becoming old it becomes difficult to change food eating habits & the mind keeps craving for rich western food. This can increases their weight & rise in weight can cause health problems like joint pain, blood pressure, cholesterol etc.

In my opinion parents should realise the significance of healthy eating & keep modifying their diet as per their age. They should understand that something that is suitable for their child/children to eat may not be suitable for them. When parents follow their child/children’s unhealthy food eating demands their child/children don’t realise whether they were eating wrong food & aren’t able to change their eating habits once they grow up. This can jeopardise their health. Thus parents should educate their child/children about healthy food eating habits & also eat healthy food as this can inspire their children & encourage them to eat healthy food.

Unexpected heart attacks rising

Now a days many people are getting heart attacks at an early age. This problem is rising in many developing & developed countries.

Heart attack isn’t rare amongst people who live a healthy life style like exercising regularly, don’t smoke, have normal weight & no cholesterol or diabetes. One of the unknown causes of early unexpected heart attack is high stress or tension frequently.

People who are in highly stressful or demanding jobs for long duration or who have a stressful family life or people who struggle daily to meet their needs are more prone to unexpected heart attacks.

Constant stress or tension for long increases cortisol in body. Cortisol is a stress hormone released by adrenal gland that constricts blood vessels. Persistent constriction of blood vessels affects the proper functioning of heart & this can cause heart attacks.

Unfortunately people who have stressful jobs or tension in family try to diverge their mind by watching a movie, going for a long drive, overeating, having stimulants like cold coffee, coffee, alcohol, etc. However such practices don’t do any good to the body.

People who suffer from constant stress shouldn’t hesitate to take help from a counsellor or a psychoanalyst or a psychotherapist or a psychologist or a clinical psychologist or a psychiatrist.

Saving an egret

On 21st September 2014 I found a baby egret which had fallen from its nest from a big tree located near Yoga Institute in Santacruz East. The baby egret had hurt both its legs & looked in incapacitating pain. It wasn’t able to stand & didn’t know how to fly. I took it to my house as I felt that without movements a rat, cat or dog may harm or eventually make it their prey. I gave her/him food like rice & apples but it didn’t eat. I had even kept a bowl of water but it didn’t have it. As it was Sunday most of the veterinary doctors weren’t available. Then I phone called a doctor & he asked an agency named Shree Ramanugrah Trust to collect the bird from my house. They eventually came to my house around 23:30 hrs & took it.

Honda Civic car crashed photos

I found this Honda Civic car destroyed near Gamdevi police station, these photos were taken using a Nokia 3230 phone on 30th May 2010. Honda Civic is an expensive car compared to other cars of its league. There was no construction work that was happening near the car & in my opinion someone had deliberately destroyed it.

Wealth inequality

You may have heard this quote “rich get richer & poor get poorer” many times. This quote was also used as a dialogue in a blockbuster Indian super hit movie Sivaji (2007) that starred superstar Rajinikanth & was directed by a great Tamil director Shankar. The movie shed light on wealth inequality amongst rich & poor. It also informed about the deposition of black money in some banks located in Europe by some wealthy people & nation can benefit if their black money is used properly for proper development of the country (by building good roads, increasing the number of hospitals & educational institutions) poor won’t suffer.

German News channel DW aired a show named “Made in Germany” dated 8th October 8:30 am & 3:00 pm (Indian Standard Time). One of the show’s topics was wealth inequality amongst the world. Host Monika Jones shed light on a research done by “Credit Suisse Global Wealth Databook 2012”, as per their research 86% of the world’s capital is with only 10% of the super wealthy people. The show shared that there's a very huge economic disparity between the mega rich & the rest of the world. In many developing nations it’s impossible to accumulate modest wealth just through work or service, thus it’s a big threat to the stability to our society as rich get richer & poor get poorer. The show also featured economist Thomas Piketty’s interview & his views about his famous book "Capital in the Twenty-First Century".

This is indeed a very big economic disparity. This accumulation of wealth by the super wealthy people has very badly affected the middle class & poor population. This economic disparity led Americans to start an Occupy Movement. The Occupy Movement protests against social & economic inequality. One of the slogans of the Occupy Movement is “We are the 99%”. This movement drew attention between the growing inequality between the rich & poor. The phrase refers directly to the concentration of capital & wealth among the top earning 1% (tiny minority) & due to which the 99% (major majority) are struggling & suffering.

The situation of majority of the world population living in developed & developing country is the same. For majority of the world population it’s impossible to have proper living standard, thus they’ve to compromise on many living aspects like they unwillingly live in a small house or live at places that aren’t properly developed, they reluctantly educate their children to substandard schools, compromise at eating (by not purchasing nutritious food), etc. The majority of service class people that don’t earn very high income find it very difficult to live with one income thus struggle throughout their life. In many countries it’s extremely difficult for majority of middle class people to purchase property (house) with their service income & raise their children. This is because the wealthy people purchase more than one house & give the rest of their houses on rent to make money. In my opinion some inequality could be reduced if the super wealthy people are made to pay high amount than the actual amount of the property. This would resist them to purchase more than one property, thus the availability of house would increase & property price would fall down.

Reflection: -

Humans should understand that sharing & caring for others can give more joy than accumulating. The wealth that mega rich possess is impossible to be consumed by them & their generation however they hesitate to share it as for many people accumulating wealth gives them some sense of security & power.
