James Bond vs Jason Bourne

Character
James Bond
Jason Bourne
Agency
MI6
CIA (Central Intelligence Agency)
Disorder
None
Amnesia
Dressing style
Very sophisticated, classy most of the time, wears expensive suits, tie.
In trouser, tee-shirt & jacket, mostly black coloured.
Enemy
Keeps changing; mostly high profile dons & mafias.
His own bosses.
Fighting style
Does little hand fights. Fights mostly with weapons.
Very agile & strong at hand fights, can defeat others even with home materials like a Biro, Books, Towel, etc.
Liquor
Found of drinks especially Martini.
Doesn’t show any interest in Liquor.
Mentality
Imperialist, wouldn’t hesitate to cheat anybody to get his mission accomplished.
Helpful to right people.
Vehicle
Drives an expensive Aston Martin which is fully equipped with all the gadgets a spy requires, including a defibrillator for any type of seriousness.
Drives anything. A mini car in Switzerland, a taxi in Moscow, a police’s car in New-York & a scooter in Tangier.
Women
Shows interest in many women but is more interested in his mission & for his mission at times he acts like a misogynist. In most of the Bond movies women were portrayed as eye-candy or objects of desire.
Falls in love only once & after that woman dies he doesn’t show interest in any other woman. Women aren’t portrayed as eye-candy or objects of desire.
Weapons
Has mostly used all types of weapons.
Very limited weapons, at times guns.

An unwise scene I felt was in Bond franchisee’s ‘Goldeneye’. In that movie Pierce Brosnan (playing Bond) after escaping Russian personnel, rides a motorcycle to chase a pilotless plane so that he can fly away using it. The plane falls off a cliff & Bond jumps off with his motorcycle around 1 to 2 seconds after the plane falls. Bond somehow manages to close the distance between him & the plane & even goes inside the plane. He then controls it & flies it. I felt that it’s impossible Bond to catch the plane as the plane is travelling with the propeller’s thrust & Bond without any thrust.

I liked all the 3 Bourne movies a lot. The best part is you don’t have to wait for more than 10 minutes for some action to happen. The first 3 films are very fast. In all the 3 Bourne movies I felt that Bourne was very sensitive to women but I felt that 1 scene was very disturbing. In the ending scenes of Bourne Supremacy, Bourne feels guilty of killing Irena Neski’s parents & thus goes to her house to confess his crime. It makes Irena cry. I felt that Irena may have gone through incapacitating pain & a feeling of helplessness. Just imagine how traumatic it can be to spend even a second with a parent’s killer. I felt that Bourne could have met a counsellor rather than sharing his guilt with Irena.
